Although many times reffered as a comedian, Kaufman was a genius performer, his absurd, anti-humor acts (dada absurdist performance art) being often misunderstood by many viewers. He referred to himself as a "song and dance man". "I trusted you" is a rather relevant example.

His first break to the large public was as Latka character the Taxi sitcom.

Some of his most memorable acts were probably the "Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion" - where he would challenge women to wrestle, the Mighty Mouse impersonation, his take on southern people (I'm From Hollywood) and the Tony Clifton character.
