Michael Godard is one of the best, and most unique artists of our day, and according to his site he "is currently the #1 best selling artist in the U.S.". If you have seen his work there is no doubt in your mind why. His main subject matter is martini's, and olives, where he brings them to life in as many ways as drinks you can make! His other pieces tackle other vices such as gambling, and other drinks such as wine and champagne, and each piece has its own unique theme surrounding it. But something in particular that I found interesting, is that ironically, despite his many depictions of alcohol, Michael Godard doesn't drink, and with David Smith they launched a "Don't Drink and Draw" campaign to offer people an understanding of his work. David Smith the found of Michael Godard Fine Art and has said "It's not about alcohol, it's about the fun of art and the fun of drinking with your friends or having a party".
